Summary: Gabriel takes care of Sam when he's sick.
Notes: I have a couple WIPs I'm trying to work on, but being away for a couple weeks messed with the momentum I had going before I left. enmuse gave me the prompts "popsicle" or "ice cream" to try and jump start something and this is what came of it. I didn't quite keep it within 100-500 words, but it didn't get away from me the way the other two fics I'm working on have.
Notes 2: I apologize if this is no good. I just wanted to post something because it's fun and I actually managed to finish it. Lololol (also, I know the title sucks, but it was that or "Untitled", LOL)


Gabriel hates seeing his lover sick, hates it even more that Sam refuses to let him take it away. He understands, respects even, the Winchester's unwillingness to rely on Castiel and him for help in everything. Becoming too dependent on a couple of angels for every little thing will only hurt them in the long run. He knows that. But being unable to heal Sam leaves Gabriel feeling antsy and helpless in a way that he hates.

Sam sniffles miserably. Gabriel frowns and sits next to his human. Reaching out a hand, he rubs the tips of his fingers in small circles on Sam's forehead. Sam lets out a rattling but relieved breath, tired eyes falling closed.

"Danks…" he says, rough voice betraying a sore throat.

"Shhh," Gabriel tries to soothe.

One of Sam's hands slides out from under the blanket. Gabriel feels long fingers curling around the hem of his shirt. He rubs Sam's head a little more firmly.

"Is there anything I can get you?" Gabriel asks, keeping his voice soft.

Sam sniffles again, curling in closer to the Gabriel. He lets go of Gabriel's shirt, instead wrapping his arm across the angel's lap. Sleepy, bloodshot eyes blink up at him. There is nothing he wants more than to snap this all away. His fingers slide further back into Sam's hair. It's tangled and a little sweaty from the slight fever he's had but Gabriel doesn't mind.

"A popsigle?" Sam asks hopefully in a small voice, sounding much like he probably had as a small sick child.

Gabriel smiles softly down at his lover. A snap of his fingers later and he's presenting a cherry popsicle to the sick human with as much of a bow as he can manage with the kid's arm sprawled over him.

There's a small smile on Sam's face when he takes the cold treat with a shaky hand.

"Danks," he says again.

"Anything for you, kiddo," Gabriel says, leaning down to press a kiss to the human's forehead. Sam doesn't want him healing all of his ails, but he can't resist easing the headache that's been growing behind Sam's eyes for hours now.

"Don't even try it," he warns quietly when Sam looks up at him through messy hair. He gets a half-hearted roll of eyes and a quiet huff, but Sam doesn't do anything more to protest Gabriel's slight bend of his rules.

"And don't drip any of that on me," he continues lightly. "I don't want to be a sticky mess like you."

This time Sam does take the treat out of his mouth, shaking his head.

"Shut up and rub my head," he says tiredly. Gabriel chuckles and does what he's told.

It's only a couple minutes before Sam's hold on the popsicle loosens. His breathing evens out, still congested but sounding better than it had the night before. Gabriel wills the now-empty stick away with a quiet snap. Just another night of this and his human should be back on his feet. Any longer than that and he doesn't think he'll be able to keep himself from just snapping Sam back to health

Settling more comfortably by Sam's side, Gabriel leans down and presses one more kiss to the top of Sam's head. "Sweet dreams, Sammy."

I'm really glad you liked it! I was hoping to share some warm/fuzzy feelings with people. :)

OH, and um. I WANTED TO WRITE YOU SOMETHING FOR YOUR BIRTHDAY AND THEN THE DAY PASSED AND I DIDN'T REALIZE AND I COULDN'T THINK OF ANYTHING.

So, if you have a short prompt (1 word/1-2 sentences, maybe?), I could try to write you something. I'm totally stuck on the other fics I'm working on so it might help jog something, too. :D

Lol! It's quite alright! I was away for my birthday anyways so I wouldn't have seen it until today! I was at a con... stalking (legally, dammit!) Mark Sheppard... *grins* Actually, need to make a post with my photo ops from that weekend...

Anywho! Back on track... a short prompt? Hmm... Wanna join the Crambriel bandwagon and spread the word? Lol. If so, then that's my prompt! Crambriel!! And er... First Date. If not... then just something with protective/possessive Gabriel would be awesome! Hell, whatever you wanna write would be epic! You know I love everything you write, even if I suck at commenting to tell you! Lol!

So... how are you? RL going alright? I'm currently wondering if I should write a sequel to Dirty Tricks for the Sabriel mini... what do you think? Heh.

RL is going okay. My sister broke up with her abusive bf, which I really thought might never happen. Had Novel Writing class this semester which was great, it really helped me improve, IMO. And I'm working on a couple different fics, but this one first-time fic is killing me because I can't get the boys ~together, LOL. How about you?

AND OMG, YOU KNOW WHAT. I think I'm going to attempt a Crambriel drabble-type-thing for you. Because I love the idea of a first date between them. *-*

*giggles* I love that GIF!! Ah, Gabriel! Gotta love him!! I spent the whole of Sunday dressed as him... *snickers*

Good news about your sister then! I imagine that is a bit of a weight off your shoulders, though I hope she stays away from him! My brother is so far still separated from his psycho ex but me and my mum are worried she might blackmail him into getting back with her just so he can see his daughter... So I seriously hope your sister is well shot of her ex!! I shall keep my fingers crossed for her! And yay for your studies going well! Novel Writing sounds interesting! I did three years of Creative Writing... was exhausting. Lol. And I'm alright! Kinda at the 'can't complain' stage of life, ya know? Well, I could complain but I don't think it'd make much difference! Heh! Going to a fair few cons. Including taking my brother to his first one in two weeks! Which should be interesting! XD And also working on trying to get my jewellery sold. :D Other than that, not much!

Yay for Crambriel!! Because, you know, there really can never be enough and at the moment there's too little! Lol! We need more! I get to post mine on July 26th!! Whoop! You're doing the spn_j2_bigbang too, right? When's your post date? Or did I totally imagine you saying you were going that... Lol

I was doing the spn_j2_bigbang, but I couldn't get a first draft done for the deadline. I think I'm still only 8k into the fic and couldn't get myself to figure out what happens in it. Because it's not quite following Cinderella the way my BatB fic followed Beauty and the Beast. @_@ It's modern and such, no talking mice and all that. LOL. There is a dog. But he doesn't talk. lololol (jeez, I haven't even gotten to the point where Sam meets the dog yet...).

The fic I'm working on right now is 6,500 words long and Sam only just realized that Gabriel is being nice to him because he wants to be friends. I really hope it doesn't take another 6k for them to kiss... But I want to try and finish it by this weekend? Though it might not work out. But I have a different idea for the mini bang that I'm planning on writing and I really want to post this thing. LOL

If it makes you feel any better (or possibly worse) then my big bang fic was supposed to originally just be a oneshot, or at the very least, 20k max... but turned out to be about 120k words instead... *snort* And yeah, I don't think it became crambriel until about 50k in... Lol!! Damn characters not doing as we want them to! XD

And if you want someone to just bounce ideas off of and/or to try to see if you can work out where to go next, then you know where I am! I am totally willing to be a er... bouncee... wait, that sounds weird. Oh, you know what I mean! Lol.

Seriously though, it does seem like Gabriel/Richard and Sam/Jared are the most awkward fraking characters ever in terms of actually doing what we want them to, doesn't it? Do they just like to do the complete opposite to what we want? *snort* Threaten to cut Gabriel's candy supply off if they don't so what you say... XD

LOL, it doesn't help that Sam is an angst muffin. I was originally writing this for a prompt at the comment fic meme at sabriel_mini, but a headcanon-y idea that's been in my head for months took over... Unfortunately I'd never quite thought of how to bring the boys together through that headcanon... >_>

I've been chatting with enmuse about it for weeks and I've got an idea for what happens next (though it still doesn't help me get them together so much as it just fulfills my hurt!Sam/protective!Gabriel addiction. LOL). But I can send you what I've got so far, if you'd like to try and help me out. I think your e-mail is still somewhere in mine from when I beta'd that one fic... I did help with one of your fics, right? I'm not imagining that?

I'm really getting quite nervous!! I hope that this fic lives up to peoples expectations!! Lol! I'm currently in the process of proofreading it and the word count is slowly beginning to rise even more. I'm quite scared of it. *snickers* It's a monster!! XD I honestly didn't think it was gonna end at one point! Lol

God, he is! I'm totally with you on that one!! Sam is so very good at the angst! Or being a spaz... I seem to be unable to make Sam anything other than completely spastic. *snort* Poor guy... how we abuse him! XD Though he kinda makes it easy for us to do so... *snickers*
